Garrettsville – On Saturday, February 20, eight teams of fifth and sixth graders from J.A.Garfield Elementary worked diligently on challenging math problems prepared by the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Over 1,200 students in Northeast Ohio participated in the event. Garfield Elementary was one of fourteen sites that hosted the competition. Students worked in groups solving rigorous math problems, performing mental math, and constructing geometric diagrams. Garfield PTO paid for t-shirts for the hard working Garfield students who participated at the tournament. Students were rewarded for their hard work with ribbons or trophies. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the great event.
