Windham – Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-13) announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is awarding $4,937,980 to be used for 30 senior housing units in the Village of Windham.
“This investment will ensure our senior citizens can live independently in a safe and clean environment that have necessary amenities available nearby,” said Congressman Ryan. “Our senior citizens deserve to live with dignity no matter their level of income. I am proud to support the hard work of the public housing authorities in my district and will continue to use my position to bring federal funds back to our community.”
This assistance is funded through the HUD Section 202 Program, which provides very low-income seniors with options that allow them to live independently but in an environment that provides support to activities such as cleaning, cooking, and transportation. The Section 202 Program has funded grants since 1959, providing capital advances to private, nonprofit sponsors to finance the development of housing for elderly residents.
