The Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville closed out its club year of “Hats Off to Little Known Women” with the installation of officers at their annual Spring Party, held at the Cellar Door on Main Street, Garrettsville on April 4, 2019. The catered meal was preceded by a brief ceremony designating the following incoming officers : president–Nasreen Kitko, vice president–Jane Hill, secretary–Carol Torda, treasurer, Karen Miller, historian–Patricia Amor. Yellow roses went to the new officeholders as symbolic candles were lit recognizing their new–or in the case of the secretary, treasurer and historian, retention–responsibilities.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by master magician and illusionist, Gary Morton, who has been mystifying audiences for over 20 years. A performing member of the world famous “Magic Castle” in Hollywood, he has also been seen as an actor in ”Cheers”, “Night Court”, and “Beverly Hills Cop 2”. His command of the cards, a handkerchief, the pom-pom whatsit, the rope of mystery and the petrified hand had the members and guests mystified and entertained and apt to become part of the show. Tubes & bottles, a Twinkie and an Edgar Guest poem all added to the merriment over his mastery of illusion and a patter that contributed to the enjoyment of the evening. He closed by letting his audience know that he would be appearing in November at LaBrae High School for a benefit show and issuing an invitation to attend. Magic fans should make plans now

The Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville will resume its 2019-2010 club year with the Summer Get Together; members will receive notification of time and place.
