Congratulations goes out to the J.A. Garfield 2019 Hall of Fame inductees.
David Mottice graduated with the class of 1988 and was recognized for his academic and athletic achievements in golf, basketball and baseball. In golf, he was a four year letterman and a two time participant at the state championships. He was a 2 time All PCL performer and was on the teams that won 3 PCL League Championships and 4 straight League Tournament Championships.
As a point guard in basketball, Dave was a three year letter winner. His junior and senior year, the team was PCL league champions.
In baseball, Dave was a three year letterman as a third baseman and pitcher. He was named Second Team All PCL his senior year.
Dave attended the College of Wooster where he earned his degree in Sociology and Economics. He continued his athletic career in golf, on a team that that went to three NCAA Division III National Championships. Wooster finished 4th in the country and his senior year, he was named Academic All American.
Following college graduation, Dave worked in golf at the private country club level. He is a member of the PGA of America and was the Head Golf Professional at Shaker Heights and Fairlawn Country Clubs.
Currently, Dave is employed at 1899 Golf and coaches golf at Hudson High school.
Dr. Jeff Ellerhorst graduated with the class of 1999 and was recognized for his achievements in track and football. He was a 4 time letterman in both track and football. Jeff was on the All-State track team his senior year. Along with his athletic and academic achievements, Jeff was active in theater club and the NHS president.
Jeff graduated from Walsh University with a BS in Biology and then received his Master’s in Physical Therapy. He received his Doctorates in Osteopathic Medicine from VCOM.
Currently, Jeff is a Chief Resident of Family Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Warren.
Adam Andrikanich graduated with the class of 1999. He was recognized for his athletic achievements in baseball and football. Adam excelled in baseball, contributing to two PCL Championships. He was a four year starter and letter winner. As a sophomore, he had a batting average over .600 and a hitting average over .500 for his career.
Adam was also a three year letter winner in football and a two time Portage County Scholar Athlete. He currently holds two school records for most interceptions in a season with 6 and most interceptions in a career with 12.
Adam continued his academic and athletic career at Mount Union as a two-sport athlete. Shortly after, Adam joined the United States Marine Corps, deployed overseas in 2007 with an honorable discharge in 2013.
Adam continues to support the community by coaching youth football and baseball.
CJ Carlisle is a graduate of the class of 2009 and was recognized for her athletic success in basketball, track and soccer. While in high school she was involved in several school activities.
In basketball, CJ was on the 2nd team All PTC her first three years and made 1st team her senior year. She had the honor of being the Record Courier’s “Athlete of the Week”.
CJ was a four-year letter winner in Track as a Discus and Shot Put thrower. She broke the school record and went to state her senior year placing 9th in shot put. Senior year, she also joined soccer as the Goalie and had 88 saves. She made the All Northeast Inland Ohio 1st team.
She went on to further both her academic and track careers at Kent State on an athletic scholarship. Her team was crowned the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Champions each of her 5 years on the team. CJ went on to earn 2nd place, junior year, and 1st place her senior year in the Mid-American Conferences throwing javelin. She qualified for the NCAA Regional track meet her soph-senior year and placed 21st her senior year at Nationals.
CJ graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Business and then she earned her MBA in 2015. She is now living in Kansas City, Missouri, working as the Human Resources Manager at Nestle Purina.
Olivia Dressler graduated with the class of 2009 and is being recognized for her athletic achievements in basketball, track and soccer. While in high school she was involved in several school activities.
While she was a three sport athlete, soccer is where she excelled the most. She was a four year starter and the team captain her junior and senior years. She has received several awards in soccer, including Honorable Mention in PTC, freshman year; 1st team PTC conference, sophomore-senior year and PTC player of the year, senior year. She was selected into the Greater Akron Senior All Star Game. Olivia holds the school record for the most goals in her career with scoring 137 career goals which is tied for 5th in the entire state. She also holds the record for the most single game goal, 45 goals!
Olivia attended Youngstown State University. She is currently living in Chicago with her family and is an Administrative Assistant in Trauma at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Travis Macek graduated with the class of 2009.He is being recognized for his athletic achievements during his HS career. He is a 4 year letter winner in track. He still holds the school record for both the 4x400m and 4x200m relays. His senior year, he was the 5th place finisher at state for the 300m hurdles.
He also was a 3 year letterman for football and 2 year letterman for basketball.
Travis attended Kent State for undergrad and then earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Northeast Ohio Medical University. He then went on to do a two year residency specializing in critical care medicine.
Currently, Travis lives in Raleigh, NC and he is working for AbbVie doing pharmaceutical research and is also a part-time emergency medicine clinical pharmacist.
