2016 Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County Hosts Summer Show

2794

The Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County’s show grounds located at 1653 Ridge Road, Vienna, Ohio 44473 will be the site of the 2016 annual summer tractor show beginning August 19 and continuing through August 21.

This years show will feature Ferguson, Massey Ferguson, and Massey Harris tractors. Harry Ferguson was the inventor of the 3-point hitch called originally the “Ferguson System”. In 1938 Ferguson made a “handshake” deal with Henry Ford to have the 3-point hitch installed on the Ford tractors being produced at that time. In 1947 Henry Ford’s Grandson officially terminated the “handshake agreement”. After this Harry Ferguson began producing his own line of tractors.

Massey and Harris companies were both major manufacturers of harvesting machinery in Canada. Daniel Massey founded the Newcastle Foundry and Machine Manufactory in New Castle, Ontario in 1847. When the firm was taken over by Daniel’s son the company was renamed Massey Manufacturing Co.

1891 found the merge of the Massey Manufacturing Co. with the A. Harris, Sons & Co.. This became the Massey Harris Co. In 1953 the company merged with the Ferguson Co. to become Massey-Harris-Ferguson. The company became Massey Ferguson in 1958.
