Windham –   Support for the Windham school children was overwhelming this past Sunday, as for the second year in a row the Windham Post of the American Legion and Windham Police joined together to help those in need, bringing together those in the community who gave monetary donations and those who donated school supplies.  Chief Gene Fixler of Windham Police estimated that this year more than twice the amount of school supplies had been donated, and the cruiser was virtually filled front to back. All proceeds from the sale of breakfasts prepared by the American Legion Post 674 Ladies Auxiliary members was also donated.  Legion Commander Jim Pace and 1st Vice Commander Paul Fitzgerald were instrumental with the Chief in helping to plan the event, which in which a total of $505 in cash was collected to be presented to Windham Schools along with the huge amount of school supplies collected, which will be distributed by the schools to those in need.  Chief Fixler stated “I am proud of our community for their generous support to our children. This is one of many reasons that Windham is a wonderful place to live”.
