People Tree 2015
People Tree is now getting ready for the Christmas Holiday; the barrels have been placed for your convenience at the Library, Middlefield Bank, Huntington Bank and Bay Window. If you are interested in being a bell ringer, please call Kim at 330-527-4873. The bell will be at IGA, Save-4 and Save-A-Lot. The bell money is our only fundraiser for the year. TRAINS, TRAINS, TRAINS
December
The 3rd Annual model train display in the North Bloomfield Town Hall will be open every Wednesday from 5-8 pm and every Saturday from 2-5 in December. More than 250 feet of track has been laid to showcase a winter village and a summer village. It’s an all new layout prepared by volunteer train crews. There will be refreshments and a Lego village. The 1893 town hall is on the east side of the North Bloomfield Park. Join us as the trains go round the track and back again.

Astronomy Night

Winter is a great time to look at the night sky and Friday night is a wonderful opportunity to learn about what you might see. Visit Hiram College for Astronomy Night, Dec 11th from 6:30-8:30pm as we journey through space in a portable planetarium and gaze at the stars and constellations. This is a fascinating and fun learning experience for the whole family! The planetarium and other astronomy activities will be inside Gerstacker Science Hall at the corner of Hayden and Dean Streets in Hiram. Also, dress for the weather because if the sky is clear, telescopes and stargazing will take place outdoors. This is a “come-when-you-can and leave-when-you-want” program. “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town”

Portage Faith United Methodist Church invites kids of all ages to come see “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” on Friday, December 11. The movie starts at 6:30 pm. There will be treats and a visit from Santa Claus! Photo opportunities and memories to be made! This is a free event. Bring a blanket to lay on the floor or sit in the chairs provided. Nine Lessons and Carols

The public is cordially invited to the Garrettsville United Methodist Church’s ceremony of Nine Lessons and Carols, to be offered at 7:00 p.m. on December 12 by the adult chancel choir. Readings throughout set the tone and inform the message. The musical selections to be presented range from a simple Advent prayer through Medieval-sounding plainsong to the triumphant announcement that “The glory of the Lord shall be revealed.” All are welcome and, like salvation, it’s free.

Gingerbread House Festival at the Historic Johnson Home, 6203 Pioneer Trail, Hiram. Kickoff will be Dec 1th at 7pm. Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Newton Falls Post 3332 Breakfast Fundraiser. All proceeds to benefit local veterans and veterans programs. Santa on a Fire truck will be Dec 19th at 5pm. The Hiram Fire Associations Christmas Santa Toy Delivery for Hiram Village and Hiram Township residents. Spaghetti Dinner

The Reason For The Season

Under a Starry Sky

Special Delivery By Santa Thanks To Rotary!

Santa will again be making early deliveries to children in the Garrettsville-Hiram area courtesy of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club. Gifts will be delivered the evening of Dec. 23rd. There is no cost for this service, but all donations received are given to the People Tree to help others in our area. Mantua Center free clothing giveaway will be Oct 24th from 9-noon in the old Mantua Center School building. You will enter the back side of the building, go down the stairs, turn right into hallway. There will be signs to lead you to the correct place. Plenty of clothing will be available in all sizes and both genders.

Chance Auction at Bristol Elementary

The Bristol Elementary sixth grade class will be holding its annual Chance Auction on Nov.13 in the elementary cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and winners will be drawn at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $3.00 and includes 10 free regular auction tickets.
