The Portage County Gardeners would like to invite you to join their clubs in 2013. Programs, workshops, field trips, crafts and friendship are just some of the reasons for joining a club. Praise and Worship Service

Saturdays 

Southington U.M.C. Praise and Worship Services are held Saturdays at 7pm. Casual dress and refreshments afterwards. Located at the town center on S.R. 305

 

Fish Fry

Jan. 11

Garrettsville Eagles will hold a fish fry on Jan. 11 from 4-7:30 pm. Dinners included are fish-shrimp-combo or chicken tenders, coleslaw, green beans, dinner roll and coffee. To go orders welcome (330) 527-2330. Cost $8.50 per dinner.

 

Pork Dinner

Portage County 4-H & Mantua Masonic Lodge are hosting a Pork dinner this Saturday January 12th from 5-7PM.  Dinner includes pork, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, applesauce, bread, dessert, and your choice of coffee or punch. Located at the Masonic Hall at 10801 John Edward Dr. Mantua, OH 44255. We do offer carry-out as well. Prices are: Adults $7.00, Children (4 thru 11) $6.00, Children 3 and under are free.

 

Spaghetti Dinner

Windham United Methodist Church is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Jan. 12, from 4:30 – 7:00pm.All you can eat includes spaghetti with meat sauce, coleslaw, bread & butter, homemade dessert and beverage. Adults $7.00, Children under 5-12 $4.00, under 5 free.  Take-outs are available!

 

All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner

Newton Falls K of C Council will be hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti dinner from 12:00pm-3:00pm At Saint Mary & Joseph’s Social Hall 120 Maple Drive. Newton Falls. Dinner includes: spaghetti & meatballs, salad, Italian bread, coffee or punch, and dessert. Adults $7; Children (6-11) $3; Under age5, FREE. (Carry out available)

Getting Ahead Workshop

Jan. 15

Getting Ahead is a 16-week workshop series where participants work in groups to examine the impact of poverty on themselves and their communities and to explore the world through the lens of economic class. This class is ideal for both individuals who are working to transition from poverty to self-stability or middle-class individuals that want to better serve their community. Burton Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting

Jan. 16 

The monthly meeting night of Burton Public Librry Board of Trustees has changed from Thursdays to Wednesdays.  Beginning January 16, the Library Board will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the library.  All meetings are open to the public.  The Library Board does not meeti in August.

 

Wonderful Wednesday Dinner

We  will  have  a    Wonderful Wednesday Dinner. The dinner, will be held at Pricetown Church, 4640 Pritchard Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Menu will include: herb chicken (boneless/skinless chicken breast), parsley potatoes, green beans, salad, desserts and beverages. Cost: Adults- $7.00; Children 10 and under- $4.00. Carry-Outs Available.

 

NF Exempted Schools Board Meeting

The Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled board meetings for 2013 on the third Thursday of each month beginning Jan. 17. Each meeting will begin at 6:00pm in the board room located in the Jr. High School at 907 ½ Milton Blvd. in Newton Falls

 

USWA Retiree Monthly Meeting

The retirees of Local 2243 U.S.W.A. Copperweld Steel Co. will have their regular meeting Jan. 17at 1 pm at the Local 1375 Union Hall at 684 North Park Ave. in Warren. 

 

Design & Beyond Symposium

Jan 19

The Master Gardeners of Summit County will present the annual Design & Beyond Symposium on Jan 19, at St. Sebastian’s Zwisler Hall, 348 Elmdale Ave. Akron, OH 44320  from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm (check-in at 8 am)  Cost for the Symposium is $40, and includes program materials, a continental breakfast and lunch.  Early reservations are encouraged, as this event sells out. Go to www.summitmastergardeners.org for further information and a downloadable registration form.  Registrations must be postmarked by or before January 4.  Late registration will be accepted until January 12 Participants will be notified by e-mail/or mail at an increased fee of $45.

Swim with the Hiram College Water Dogs

Classes are held  2 – 3 pm, 3 – 4 pm, 4 – 5 pm, 5 – 6 pm on Sunday afternoons. All Levels, All Hours, Lesson are 45 minutes with 15 minutes of free time at the end. PCDL  Closed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Looking For Our Next Grand Marshall

Due by Feb. 8 

The Candidate must be a community minded Ravenna resident who has had a positive impact in the community. The committee asks that when nominating, that the reason and some background information be included. The Grand Marshal will preside over the grand parade and all other festivities of the Balloon A-Fair Festival.  This year’s event will be Sept. 19 – 22, 2013. Written nominations for Grand Marshal should be submitted no later than Feb. 8, 2013.  Mail to: Ravenna Balloon A-Fair, Attention Parade Committee, and P.O. Chili Cook-Off

Feb. 10

Garrettsville United Methodist Church  2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off benefitting the Nelson – Garrettsville Community Cupboard will be held on Feb. 10 at 1:00 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults and children 10 and under are free.  Register to participate in the competition by February 1st by calling the church office at (330) 527-2055. 

 

Amateur Comedy Night

Streetsboro Eagles Aerie 4300 presents their  1st Annual Amateur Comedy night and dinner on Feb. 16th. Doors open at 6:00 pm and dinner will be at 6:30pm.
