Newton Falls Season Passes

Tickets are on sale at the Superintendent’s Office, located at 909½ Milton Blvd., for the upcoming Newton Falls Tiger Football Season from 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The cost for reserved season passes for 5 home games is $40.00.  Also available, are 10-game passes for adults for $50.00, and student 10-game passes for $30.00.  These 10-game passes are good for any varsity event, i.e., volleyball, soccer, football, basketball or track. Family passes are also available.

Pilates Classes

Ravenna Recreation offers Pilates on Sundays and Wednesdays.  Classes will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. from Sept. 2 – 30  at Tower Lodge in John Tontimonia City Park.  Participants should bring a water bottle and a mat.  Class fee is $32 for city taxpayers and $37 for non-city taxpayers or an $8.00 drop in fee.  This four week program will strengthen your abdominal muscles, increase your flexibility and improve your overall muscle tone and posture.Pre-registration required by calling Ravenna Recreation (330) 296-2864 or stop in at 530 North Freedom Street, weekdays 8 a.m. to 12 noon or 1p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

 

Upton Open House

The Upton Association would like to announce the plans for the next Open House, scheduled for Sept 2 from 2 PM to 5 PM and will feature table setting displays, with Darlyn Gardiner hosting the event. Upton House is located in downtown Warren and is operated by the Harriet Taylor Upton Association on 380 Mahoning Ave. NW in Warren. Monthly Fellowship

First Church of God in Windham at 9016 N Main St will kick off a monthly fellowship time to follow the morning worship on the first Sunday of each month.  The fellowship will include beverages and refreshments and everyone is invited to stay after the service.

 

Geauga Park District at The Great Geauga County Fair

Tae Kwon Do Classes

Starting Sept 4

New session of Tae Kwon Do will be held from Sept.4 to 27 at WILLYARD SCHOOL in Ravenna for ages 7 years to adults, male or female.  Tae Kwon Do emphasizes self-discipline, exercise, and martial art skills.  Instructors work with students individually and as a group on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Participants must have a mouth piece on first night.  Male students are required to wear protective gear after the second week. Cops & Kids Fishing Day

The Hiram Police Department will be holding the community program called, “Cops and Kids” Fishing Day. The event will be free of charge to anybody who attends. 34th Annual Potato Stomp

The 34th Annual Potato Stomp 9 mile race will take place on September 8th.  The Potato Stomp is a classic road race through the scenic streets of Mantua Village and the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley.  There is a one-mile Fun Run that begins at 8:30am and the 9-mile race begins at 9am.  Fun Run registration on race day is $8 with no shirt/$15 including shirt.  Race day entry fee for the nine mile race is $15 with no shirt/$20 including shirt.  For race and/or registration information, call 330-842-0856 or email rosalief@yahoo.com

 

Marching Pride On-the-road

The Marching Pride will be taking the show on the road over the next few weeks. Starting with the Solon Band Bash on September 8 at 7:00pm in Solon. The next show is September 15 when the Pride will attend the University of Akron Band day where the Pride will march with Akron Zips band at halftime. Crosstrailers Square Dance Club

The Burton Public Library will offer five storytimes for young children this fall beginning Sept 11. Preschool Storytime for 4 and 5-year-olds will meet at 10:30 a.m.  Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. is “Rockin’ at the Library” for 2 – 5-year olds and their families.  Beginning Sept.12 at 10:30 a.m. is “All Aboard Storytime” for 2 – 5 year-olds and their families.  Beginning on Sept. 13, Baby Rhyme Time will be held Thurs mornings at 9:30 for infants through 18-month olds and their caregivers.  Toddler Time for 18-month to 3-year olds will be Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.  All storytimes are free of charge.  Please call the library to register for all programs:  440-834-4466.

 

T’ai Chi Classes

Ravenna Recreation Department is offering a 6-week, adult beginner / intermediate T’ai Chi class on Thursday evenings beginning Sept. 13 to Oct. 18. Sessions will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Tower Lodge in John Tontimonia City Park.  Instructor is Bill Vandenboom.  This class is Yang style, long form T’ai Chi.  Fee is $35 for Ravenna city taxpayers and $40 for non-city taxpayers. Mantua Legion and Auxiliary #193 has rescheduled its monthly soup supper to Sept 14 at 6:00 pm. The cost for soup, salad and dessert is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Open to public.

Gospel Fest

The Christian Life Center will host a Gospel Fest on September 23, 2012 at 3:30pm. The church is located at 5931 Rhodes Road Kent. “Living well with Fibromyalgia”

A free forum, “Living Well With Fibromyalgia,” co-sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation and UH Geauga Medical Center, will offer more information about fibromyalgia while exploring management strategies and treatment options. Youth Sportsfest

The Trumbull County 4-H Shooting Sports Pioneers Club will host a free NRA Youth Sportsfest on Sept. 29 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Fish & Game Club of Vienna on SR 193 across from the Youngstown Warren Regional Airport.  The purpose of this event is to teach basic gun & archery safety, demystify firearms by providing hands-on experience, and provide an enjoyable learning experience to all youth ages 9 to 18 years old.  Pre-registration before SEPTEMBER 24 is required at (330) 898-4486 or email at larrybeard@aol.com.  Parents must sign a release.  No guns owned by the participants are to be brought to this event!!

Tickled Pink Shopping Extravaganza

Fall is in the air and that means that the holiday season can’t be far behind!  Get a jump on your holiday gift shopping at the Friends of WomenSafe Tickled Pink Shopping Extravaganza.  For the low admission price of $1.00 (children under 12 free) on October 6, 2012. You’ll have the chance to win great items at the Chinese Auction or cash from the 50/50 Raffle!  The Coffee Corner in Burton will be serving reasonably priced sandwiches, cookies and beverages.  Shopping hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Kent State University Geauga Campus, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton.

Huntsburg Pumpkin Festival
