Hiram College Water Dogs Signups
On Sunday afternoons from: 2 – 3 pm, 3 – 4 pm, 4 – 5 pm, 5 – 6 pm there will be swim lessons for all levels, all hours. Lessons are 45 minutes with 15 minutes of free time at the end. Summer Music Concert
The James A Garfield Music Department will be hosting an instrumental concert on, Aug 9th at 7 pm in the Iva Walker Auditorium at the high school. The performance will feature students in grades 6-8, following our week long summer music camp. The concert is free and open to the public. Sugar Bush Golf Course will be the site of the First Annual Jeremy Collins Foundation Memorial Golf Outing, Aug 10th. The event is open to the public and is in support of offering scholarship funds to some of the hard-working, involved, “good kid” students who may have a lot of potential but “slip through the cracks” on their way to their dreams. Barnhisel Open House

There will be two Open Houses at the Barnhisel on the second and fourth Sunday in Aug; The Open Houses on Aug 11th and 25th. They are free to the public with donations accepted. Costumed guides will lead visitors through the home that houses a variety of historical items from the area. The historical Barnhisel House is located at 1011 N. State St., Girard and is open May through December on the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 1-4 pm with special tours available by appointment. The Freedom Township School Room Mothers’ 2013 Luncheon will be at noon on Aug 13th at the Freedom Township Hall. All room mothers and mothers who have fond memories of their child’s school years at the Freedom School are invited along with their guests. NF Community Yard Sale
During the Newton Falls Community-wide Yard Sale Aug 16-18th from 9-5 each day, the Senior Community of Newton Commons, Village & Manor will be having a yard sale at the community room near the office. Garrettsville Library’s “Under The Sea” Tea Party
The Garrettsville Library, a branch of the Portage County District Library system, invites boys and girls from preschool to third grade to an “Under The Sea” Tea Party on Saturday, Aug 17 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Volunteers Needed: Geauga Co. Job and Family Services are looking for caring, motivated adults who would like to make a difference in a child’s life. The Volunteer Tutoring program matches volunteers with local elementary students who need help in basic reading and math. Volunteers will be required to attend training at Geauga Co.
