Volunteers Needed

Coleman Adult Day Services looking for volunteers to share their time and talents with Seniors. Only once a month or more if you could come to our center in Ravenna Mon-Fri at 11am or 1pm to play a game with them or do a craft. Community Center Open

Tuesdays

Every Tuesday except Election Day, the community center will be open from 9:30 till 2:00 or 3:00, in the cafeteria wing of the Mantua Center School on Center Road just north of SR82.  There is no charge and all are welcome.  Free coffee’s ready by 9:30, when the water color painting group gathers.  There’s always a jigsaw puzzle to work on, a table of reading material for free exchange, and a sewing project, with sewing machines available for use.  Or just come to talk with friends or make some new ones.  Potluck lunch at noon; bring something to share.  Due to low attendance, there will be no more evening meals this fall.  Once the morning group has dispersed, the building will be closed for the day.

St. Michael’s Church at 9736 East Center Street in Windham, OH holds bingo every Thursday in the church hall. We have a Large Running Progressive!  Come and play for a chance!  You can’t win if you don’t play!  Ticket sales begin at 6pm.  Games start at 7pm.  Please come and support St. Michael’s Church!  We look forward to seeing you!

Portage Faith UMC at 9922 St. Rt. 44 in Mantua, invites you to their chicken drive thru dinner on Oct 9th from 4:30-6:30pm. All dinners are to-go and include baked chicken breast, butter and parsley red potatoes, green beans, applesauce and cookies. Cost is $8. Limited supply will be available.

Fall Bazaar

“Falling” into Fitness Trail Run

Put on your running shoes or boots as we experience the preserve in a totally unique and healthy way. We will be running the trails of Eagle Creek while enjoying the crisp fall air.  Event will take place on Oct 10 from 10 am – 12 pm at Eagle Creek State Nature Preserve , 11027 Hopkins Rd. Garrettsville. . For more information call (330)-527-5118 Special note: Please dress according to the weather as the temperatures may be cool this time of year. The goal of this event is to combine fitness with the serenity of nature. The trails at Eagle Creek are semi-unimproved (mostly bare soil) and will afford a moderate challenge when run.  Total distance will be approximately 5 miles. Refreshments will be available after the run.

Delightful Craft Show

Library Closed

Annual State of the Village of Middlefield Address

The Annual State of the Village of Middlefield Address is Oct 13th at Noon at Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen, 14743 North State Ave, Middlefield 44062. The Luncheon cost is $15 a person and will begin at noon, followed by the Address by Mayor Garlich.  Doors open at 11:45 am for registration. RSVP’s are needed by October 6th. Explore Freedom Twp. History

PERI Chapter 63 Meeting

Harvest Dinner

The Bloomfield Historical Society is sponsoring a Harvest Dinner at the town hall on the east side of the Bloomfield square on October 15th at 6pm. This will be a potluck supper with the meat, drinks and table service provided. Guests are welcome to attend and enjoy the dinner. There will also be a Chinese auction. This is the bicentennial year of Bloomfield Township. The third annual holiday train extravaganza will begin on December 2 and continue during the month of December.

Fall Festival

The hospitable folks at the Historic Johnson Home, 6203 Pioneer Trail, Hiram, OH 44234 are inviting everyone—families, listen up—to a Fall Festival on Friday, October 16 with activities for all ages and fun for everyone.  The hours are from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. and the things to do include a pumpkin toss (no pies for these babies), applesauce-making, a scavenger hunt, even an eruption of a volcano!  Yellowstone has nothing on us! Anyone at loose ends on NEOEA Day, looking for something “outside the box” should check this out.  While you’re there, take a look at one of the founding locations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a  historical reconstruction/restoration/replication of a Western Reserve home of the mid 1800’s.

Spaghetti Dinner

Free Concert

Celebrate Freedom, a free concert honoring God, America, Veterans and First Responders will take place at the Geauga County Fair Grounds in Burton, Ohio on October 18th from 4-6pm.  Nationally known singer/song writer Todd Allen Herendeen will perform Gospel and Patriotic music including his signature song, “My Name Is America”.  Todd and his crew will erect a 500 seat, red, white and blue tent on the Midway of the Geauga County Fair Grounds.  All ages are invited and asked to bring a lawn chair.  Admission and parking is free.  A love offering will be collected.  The concert will take place rain or sunshine! Youth Shoot (Intro to Shotgun)

The Streetsboro Sportsman Association is hosting a free youth introduction to Shotgun coarse on October 24th at 10.The club is located at 11280 Bloom Rd., Nelson Township 44231. The attendees will receive instruction in the safe handling of firearms followed by the opportunity to shoot. The course will be taught by NRA instructors. Mantua Center free clothing giveaway will be Oct 24th from 9-noon in the old Mantua Center School building. You will enter the back side of the building, go down the stairs, turn right into hallway. There will be signs to lead you to the correct place. Plenty of clothing will be available in all sizes and both genders.

Chance Auction at Bristol Elementary

The Bristol Elementary sixth grade class will be holding its annual Chance Auction on  Nov.13  in the elementary cafeteria.  Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and winners will be drawn at 7:00 p.m.  Admission is $3.00 and includes 10 free regular auction tickets. All proceeds benefit the sixth grades’ annual spring trip to Washington, D.C.
