Hiram Community Trust: Grant Applications
Due by April 4
Hiram Community Trust provides grant funds for projects that promote a spirit of cooperation among Hiram Village, Hiram Township, Hiram College, and James A. Garfield and Crestwood Local Schools. The purpose of these funds is to enrich life in the Hiram community by funding creative proposals for projects to support community enrichment. Grant applications are due no later than April 4. 4-H All Stars
Now enrolling new members for the coming year. Youth must be 5 years old through 18 years as of January 1st, 2015 and live in Portage County. Our club offers many projects: small animals, sewing, cooking, quilting, photography, electricity, wood working, small engines and many more. We meet in Nelson Township. NGCC Food Donations
State Farm Agent, Shannan Jursa’s office now has a bin for drops offs to support the Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard. We will donate $10 to the Community Cupboard for every 10# of food donated. For now, we plan to have the bin in our office through March. Office located at 8454 Windham St., Garrettsville, OH 44231
American Legion Fish Fry

Water Dog Swim Lessons
Begin March 29
Need swim lessons? Well look no further than Hiram College. This will be our final session of Water Dog Swim Lessons for the semester. Take advantage of this amazing opportunity to have your child learn a valuable life lesson. Get instruction from the colleges finest once a week for a four week period. Each lesson lasts forty-five minutes with an additional fifteen minutes for your child to gain more confidence in the water. Ages four and up welcomed. St. Mary and St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild of Newton Falls will be baking homemade Kolache for the Easter holiday and you may purchase this taste of Eastern Europe at the low cost of $10 each. The Geauga County Historical Society will hold its annual Pancake Breakfasts on the five Sundays of March 2015, beginning March 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals served in the Lennah Bond Activities Center on the grounds of Century Village Museum. All-you-can-eat pancakes served with maple syrup produced from our own sugar bush. Adults $7.00, children 5-12 $5.00, children 4 and under free. Please mark your calendars for this delicious Geauga County tradition, come and enjoy an early breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and support your local historical society.
Geauga West Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale
Please join us for the Geauga West Friends of the Library Spring book sale. There are thousands of new and gently used adult and children’s books, puzzles and games, and Audio/Video items. The Book Sale begins March 4 with the Members’ Preview (memberships are available at the door) from 4-6pm, followed by the Open Public Sale from 6-8:30pm. Christ Episcopal Craft Show
Mark your calendar for the Christ Episcopal Craft Show, March 7th from 10-4 located at 2627 Atlantic St. NE, Warren, Oh 44483. Admission is $2.00 and parking is FREE. There are over 50 crafters/vendors to showcase their unique items and products. A Chinese Auction will be held with baskets full of goodies to be given away. Delicious hot food will also be available. There is sure to be something for everyone. Proceeds for the craft show go toward our outreach ministries at the church.

Portage County Chapter #600 of International Parents Without Partners will have its monthly dance March 7, 7:30-11pm at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge, OH. All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast
American Legion post 674 auxiliary is having an all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast March 8th from 8 am- 12pm. Price $7.00 for adults $5 for kids under 12 and seniors. All proceeds will go towards Windham High School girls’ softball/ boy’s baseball fields (dugouts)
Enjoy an all-you-can-eat dinner of homemade soups, salads, breads and desserts March 8th at 5:30pm, at the Mantua Center Civic Center (4118 St. Rt. 82). Cost is $6 per person. The dinner will include an auction of hand-crafted items made by the youth of CYF United (Christian Youth Fellowship). Funds benefit the CYF summer mission trip to Hazard, KY where the youth will be repairing homes.

Parkman Pancake & Sausage Breakfast

The Parkman Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 47th annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfasts at the Parkman Community House (16295 Main Market – Rt. 422) on Sundays: March 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Adults eat for $8.00; children – $4.00 (Pre-schoolers are free). Adult take-outs are also available. Our pancakes are served on real plates (no disposables here) and we use only real Geauga County maple syrup. Our own secret recipe is used for our sausage patties. You can even buy some sausage to take home and enjoy after our pancake breakfasts are done for the year. Gather your friends and family and join us for breakfast!

Community Center at Mantua Center Re-opening Tues March 10, 9-3 and 5-7. Come with friends or make some new ones! Coffee’s ready by 9:30. The Nelson UMC will be hosting their Swiss Steak Dinner on March 14th at the Nelson Community House on Nelson Circle. Dinner is served from 4-6:30pm, cost is $9 for adults and $6 for kids 6 years and older. BioBuddies: Chicken School at Hiram College

Get your feathers on! Chicken School is back at Hiram College. Eggs Alive is the theme for this discovery program as preschool children (ages 3-5) explore chickens, eggs and observe the life inside as they incubate and hatch chicks. BioBuddies provides hands-on, developmentally appropriate educational experiences for early learners and are specially designed to develop the cognitive, social, creative and physical skills of early learners. Learn more about managing your pond with featured speakers Eugene Braig, Aquatic Ecosystems Specialist, OSU Extension and Bob Griesmer, Geauga SWCD Technician. JAG Kindergarten Registration
Please call the James A. Garfield Elementary school to set up an appointment to register your child for Kindergarten. The age requirement for the JAG School district is 5 years of age by Sept 30, 2015. Registration and full screenings will take place on March 24, March 25 and March 26, 2015 at the Elementary School, these are the ONLY times we will do complete screenings. Night at the Races
The JAG All Sports Boosters are hosting a Night at the Races on 3/28 at the Elks Club in Ravenna. Tickets are $30 apiece or $50 a couple. Dinner and 2 drinks are included. Spring Break Day Camp

Ravenna Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting and annual Spring Break Day Camp. It will be held March 30 through April 3 from 7:45 am to 4:00 pm. Young at Heart Trip
