The words “Thank You” do not seem adequate enough to express our gratitude to the hundreds of people who have helped the Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard since the fire. The outpouring of support we have received from all over northeastern Ohio has been nothing short of amazing. From neighboring food banks, school districts, churches, civic organizations, corporations, police departments, fire departments to hundreds of residents, there is not enough ink to thank everyone!
We extend a special thank you to all those who held food drives or hosted collection sites. Thanks also to the Garfield sports teams, faculty, administration, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts who gave of their time during their spring break to help us unload countless delivery trucks. Hundreds of residents have volunteered their time to pickup, unload, sort and move the unbelievable amount of donations that have come into our storage facility. We are so grateful to those who donated refrigerators, freezers, racking, computer and other operating equipment. It has been remarkable!
Just a few short weeks ago, as we stood with our neighbors looking at the heartbreaking devastation on Main Street, we thought we might never recover. But here we are, with our shelves restocked, our equipment replaced and our doors reopened. None of this would have been possible without the tireless support of our #GarrettsvilleStrong and extended communities. If the past weeks have shown us anything, it is that truly, together, we can Shut The Door On Hunger!
