Ox Roast Fair Plans Well Underway in Mantua

Mantua – The 2015 St. Joseph Church Ox Roast Fair in Mantua kicks off with the availability of Ox Roast Raffle Tickets.  Now in its 52nd year, the Ox Roast Fair will be held July 17th, 18th, and 19th, and promises to be more exciting than ever. Grand prizes this year include $20,599.00+ Harley Street Glide FLHX Motorcycle (provided by Carlton Harley-Davidson of Mantua) for first prize and a second prize of $3,000.00 cash.  The drawing takes place the last day of the Fair, Sunday, July 19th, at 9:30 p.m.  Winner need not be present.  During the Fair, $100.00 progressive hourly drawings take place at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. all three days.  Winners must be present for the progressive hourly drawings and winners still qualify for the main raffle. Tickets are $10.00 each or a book of 6 for $50.00. Purchase raffle tickets online at stjosephmantua.weshareonline.org (checking/savings direct withdrawal, debit and credit cards), at area businesses and events, through St. Joe parishioners, by contacting St. Joe’s parish office (330-274-2253), or during Fair hours.

Don’t miss your chance to participate in our 50/50 Raffle Drawing held each day of the Fair (winner must be present). If no winner is present, the amount rolls and grows to the next drawing! Tickets are only $1.00 each. Daily drawings are Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. (one hour to claim), and Crazy Sunday Drawing at 8:00 p.m. (if no winner claims, another drawing will be held at 8:15, 8:30, 8:45 p.m. until prize is claimed). If no winner, all monies will be donated to the 4C’s, Mantua’s food cupboard. Good luck!

Be sure to take a chance on the 2015 raffle for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Mantua Knights of Columbus. This year’s first prize is a One Hour Hot Air Balloon Ride courtesy of Spitfire Balloon Team (date to be determined; 12 years & older) with a fun filled basket and a second prize of a Coleman Portable Gas Grill and a 60 qt. Coleman Cooler filled with all the necessities for a successful tailgating party or a simple picnic for two including a K & K Meats gift card. The drawing will be held at 9:00 p.m. Sunday night of the Fair.  Winner need not be present. Tickets are $1.00 each or a book of 6 for $5.00 and can be purchased from any member of the Women’s Auxiliary or at their booth at the Ox Roast Fair. Proceeds go towards furnishing their “Christmas Family” with food and gifts for the entire family.

Limited Trade Booth space is available for the entire three days of the fair. The standard 10’ x 10’ booth rental fee is $350.00. A large booth, measuring 10’ x 20’, is also available for $450.00. Each booth is a lighted, open-sided booth with a canopy style cover (this is not an individual free standing tent). St. Joseph’s will supply one 8’ table and two folding chairs. Be a part of the 4th Annual Run of the Ox 5K Run/Walk & 1M Family Fun Walk at this year’s Ox Roast Fair! It will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the church and run an out and back course down Bowen Rd. Only 150 participants will receive a t-shirt, so register early! If you would like to volunteer the day of the race or be a race sponsor, please contact Brian Hirsch (bhirsch@stratos.net or 330-297-1465). We invite businesses to sponsor an individual truck or tractor pull and get your name out to more than 30,000 people during our three-day event. Your business will be announced throughout the pull and your company banner will be displayed on the track fence throughout the Fair. Pull Sponsorships are $1,000.00 per pull event. Pulls are held all three days of the Ox Roast Fair. On Friday enjoy Antique Tractor Pulls (1970 or older) as the Geauga County Antique Tractor Pullers begin this sanctioned pull at 6:00 p.m. (weigh-in at 5:00 p.m.). The Garden Tractor Pulls take place on Saturday with weigh-in at 9:00 a.m. and pulls beginning at 10:00 a.m. (please note that fairgrounds open at 1:00 p.m. Saturday). Putting on quite a show on Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Tractor & Semi Truck Pulls take place (weigh-in at 4:30 p.m.). You’ll want to come out on Sunday for the thrilling 4WD Pick-Up Pulls beginning at 4:30 p.m. (registration at 3:30 p.m.). Area businesses may display their company banner on the track fence all three days of the Fair.  Announcements will also be made throughout the pull events and also acknowledged in the parish bulletin and on the parish website. Banners or signs may be dropped off at St. Joseph Church’s parish office. The tax-deductible sponsor’s donation is $75.00 for this year’s truck & tractor pull. The event has some wonderful entertainment set for this year. Performing live on the Carlton Harley-Davidson stage on Friday is “Country Fried” 7:00-10:00 p.m. On Saturday the Christian band “Testify” takes the stage 2:00-5:00 p.m., “2 Guys, 12 Strings” will be in the Beer Garden 5:30-7:30 p.m., and “Disco Inferno”, sponsored by Oscar Brugmann Sand & Gravel, entertains 8:00-11:00 p.m. On Sunday’s schedule are “The Donnie Heath Project” 2:00-5:00 p.m. and “T.B.S.” 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Our Talent Stage will also features some fun acts including on Saturday “Frankie Flash – God’s Italian Cowboy” 1:00-2:00 p.m. and “Jungle Bob” 4:00-5:00 p.m. and on Sunday you’ll enjoy “Ravenna Parks & Recreation Dance & Baton School” 1:30-2:30 p.m. The 2015 Ox Idol is back again this year with three fun-filled days of selection of Karaoke Contestants on the Talent Stage, 6:00-11:00 p.m. Friday (with a break for the fireworks display), 6:00-11:00 p.m. Saturday, and 4:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday with the finals competition 8:00-9:00 p.m. on Sunday. Sponsored by Ferrara Electric Co., all Ox Idol contestants and the three top winners to be selected from all song slips filled out on each day of the Fair (three individuals and one wild card entry each day).  All Wild Card Contestants to be chosen from all entry slips right before the finals. A total of 12 contestants will compete in the finals for the title of Ox Roast Idol. Entry fee of $3.00 per song slip is required or you may choose to purchase an exclusive “I Sang at Ox Idol” t-shirt for $10.00 which includes the entry fee. The three most lucky and possibly talented performers will win $50-3rd, $100-2nd, and $200-Grand Prize. Don’t miss this spectacular event!
