Mantua’s Art & Wine Festival This Weekend

928

Mantua – If you’re looking for a fun and unusual way to spend your Saturday, check out Art on the Hill in Mantua. Each year, local and regional artisans come together on a chosen day each July to line both sides of East Prospect Street in the Village of Mantua to sell their handmade art. This year, that day is July 13th, and over 75 artisans — that’s fifteen more than last year — will line the streets with their one-of-a-kind works. Fabulous finds include jewelry, sculptures, woodwork, lawn art, paintings, photography, clothing, soaps, lotions, metal works, ceramics, recycled art, jams & jellies, Ohio Maple products, and more.
The festival provides the chance for visitors to find unique gifts for friends, family, and even themselves.
There is truly something for everyone at this event, including local food vendors, demonstrations and children’s activities. Live music will be performed all day at the main stage. The line-up includes: 9:45 am – Paul Moskun – finger style, classical guitar; 10:40 am – Starship Truckers – folk, light rock; 11:40 am – The Bees Trees – groovy, jazzy up-beat jam band; 12:45 pm – Daniel Krotz – piano; 1:25 pm – The Bees Trees – more groovy, jazzy jammin’; 2:35 pm – Kenny Brigham – featuring Earl Ledger formerly of “The Drifters” on keyboards bringing some down home blues; 3:35 pm – Nellie Park – fiddle music with guitar back-up; 4:05 pm – Chuck Keiper – singer, songwriter; 5:15 pm – David Haydu – acoustic rock, folk, blues.
This year’s Art on the Hill will also feature a wine tasting featuring three local wineries: Barrel Run Crossings Winery & Vineyard, Candlelight Winery and Sharon James Cellars. Try three samples for $10, and receive a commemorative wine glass at no charge. In addition, visitors have the chance to enter to win handmade quilts, participate in a 50/50 raffle or make bids in a huge Chinese auction.
As in previous years, admission to the festival is free. Art on the Hill is hosted by the Downtown Mantua Revitalization Corporation (DMRC), with generous support from Rapid Electric and The Community Journal. Art on the Hill is located in Mantua, at the corner of State Route 44 and East Prospect Street, 2 miles north of Ohio Turnpike Exit 193. For more information, call (330) 414-6486.
