Mantua – Nine Crestwood-area boys and girls ages 10 to 14 were named Local and District Champions of the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to complete at the Regional level. Mantua Council # 3766 sponsored the local competition at Crestwood Middle School on Jan 15th and the District level at Aurora High on Jan 19th. All youngsters ages 10-14 were eligible to participate.
Seth Semety was the ten-year-old boys champion. In the eleven-year-old bracket is Colin Vizy (boys) and Isabella Romano (girls). Twelve-year-old winners include Joshua Howell and Tamia Davis. The 13-year-old winners are Sierra Gregel and Logan Bailey. Finishing out as the Fourteen-year-old champions are Jacob Fumich and Taylor Lough.
Each of those winners will compete in the Regional competition at Waterloo High School on Feb 22, 2014 with an eye toward moving on to the state and international levels.
Event chairperson Anthony Marinelli says we had a great turnout with 22 participants. Mantua K of C would like to thank all participants, parents, volunteers, Crestwood and Aurora School Districts for making successful events. We’ll see you again next January.
