Let the Sunshine in!

Ravenna – We’ve successfully made it through another busy holiday season of nonstop events, activities, and to-do lists a mile long. We’ve finally turned the calendar page on January, that seemingly eternal month of below-zero blustery weather. Thanks in part to Mother Nature, we’ve suffered through colds, coughs, and an unprecedented number of flu cases. After an inordinate amount of snow days, ice days, and generally cloudy, grey winter suckiness, we all could use a little more sunshine. A trip to a warm, sunny beach would be just the thing; unfortunately, most of us can’t hop a plane and skip town for a quick jaunt to a tropical locale. But did you know you can enjoy a little sunshine in nearby Ravenna?

That’s right — Sunshine Cupcakes is open six days a week with cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and other sweet treats to add some extra sunshine to your day, making a regular winter day just a bit brighter. If their cheery sign doesn’t improve your mood, and the colorful, fun interior of the shop doesn’t bring a smile to your face, then the lovely display of sweet treats will certainly do the trick.

Owner Deb McCurry, who took over the business in summer of last year shared, “We love our everyday moments with customers as well as being part of special events for their families and friends!” But don’t let the name fool you — Sunshine Cupcakes provides cupcakes, custom cakes, and other sweet treats for birthdays, weddings, and graduations, too. But hey — wouldn’t Monday feel like a special occasion of you brought a dozen fancy cupcakes to share at your weekly staff meeting? And wouldn’t your special someone enjoy their favorite flavor on any random ‘thinking of you’ Tuesday or Thursday?
They’ve got an extensive list of cupcake flavors available daily, with exquisitely-topped standard flavors as well as a variety of more complete flavored cupcakes. Flavors like peanut butter heaven, coffee caramel, cherry pie, and German chocolate may be just the thing to help banish your winter blues as you count the days until spring arrives.
Cupcakes are sold individually for $1.99, or $21.99 per dozen. Regular and mini cupcakes are also available for $15.99 and $8.50 per dozen, respectively. And if you’ve got a special flavor combination that isn’t listed, let Deb and her team know. They can also make sugar-free and gluten-free varieties, as well. Be sure to stop in for daily specials, too.
Sunshine Cupcakes is open Monday through Friday from 11 am – 6 pm and Saturday from noon until 3 pm. You can find them at 221 South Prospect Street in Ravenna, call (330) 577-4222, or check out their extensive list of flavors on their Facebook page.
