King Family Returns to Cal’s

939

Garrettsville – After a three year break, the King Family is back at the helm of Cal’s Restaurant and Pizza Express in Garrettsville.  Aaron and his mother, Carole took over the ownership of the facility on November 29, 2012 and they are eager to return Cal’s to one of the top restaurants in the area. Carole and Aaron both said they have truly missed their regular customers and look forward to seeing them again, along with meeting many new ones.   DSCF0165The ownership change took place on November 29th and the restaurant has and will remain open during the transition period. The Kings have also stated that they do not expect any changes in the staff at this time, as all the employees are being retained.

Although Carole and Aaron are backing at the helm, they will turn the day-to-day management reins of the facility over to Brian Rader who has been with the family for 25 years. Both Carole and Aaron will be around to assist Brian. Aaron is right next door at Skylanes Bowling Alley and Carole will be in the restaurant three days a week to assist with the operations.

One of the changes already being implemented by the Kings is going back to their original pizza ingredients. One will see and taste the difference as they use only 100% provolone cheese on their pizza. Another change is they recently had the pizza oven “Big Bertha” rebuilt and she is now ready for use. “Big Bertha” is still Northeast Ohio’s largest pizza oven and cooks pizza to perfection.

Expect to see some of the favorites like veal and eggplant parmesan and homemade chili return to the menu. They will also add their delicious slow-roasted Prime rib on the menu for Friday and Saturdays nights and go back to their original chicken recipe for their fried chicken. Besides bringing back the favorites, one will also see the return of homemade specials on Wednesday and Thursday on the menu as well.   Back by popular demand, Cakes by Carolyn Miller will return to the dessert menu along with Mrs. Clarke’s famous pies. A new, updated menu is being developed and will be implemented soon.

They have also updated their catering menu and redecorated Cal’s II for all your party needs. Cal’s II is available for holiday gatherings, showers, family events and parties.  Let them help you organize your family gathering or party.

The restaurant will also have some remodeling done. The landlord is working with the King Family to update the facility. Currently, they plan to change the windows and upgrade the carpeting in the regular dining room.

A new website and social media sites are being developed and will be up and running soon. Cal’s will also offer complete menu delivery service, just like before, which means everything on their menu is available for delivery, making them the only full-service restaurant that delivers its entire menu.

January will mark the 30th Anniversary for the restaurant and the 27th for the King Family. They are busy planning for specials for their anniversary and will announce them soon. Right now, they are offering a holiday special on gift cards, buy a $20 gift card and receive a $5 gift card free.  These will make great stocking stuffers for the holidays.

If you haven’t been to Cal’s in a while now is the time to return, and see the new changes. While there, take a few minute to welcome back Carole and Aaron along with Brian Rader as they implement new plans for a better dining experience.

Cal’s is located at 8301 Windham Street (S.R 82) in the Sky Plaza and they can be reached at 330 527- 2133
