Ronald H. Surgeon, Sr., 82 years of age, passed away Thursday February 26, 2015 at University Hospitals-Geauga Regional Medical Center in Clairdon Township, Ohio. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on June 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Howard and Margaret (Schmitz ) Surgeon. A resident of Troy Township the past 12 years, he formerly resided in the Mantua area for many years. Recently employed the past 8 years at Ganley Bros. Automotive in Aurora, Mr. Surgeon had been employed as a machinist at Morco Products in Bedford Hts., Ohio. A member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mantua, he also was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 3766 in Mantua. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving proudly in the U.S. Navy, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 193 in Mantua.Mr. Surgeon enjoyed sports and the special times he spent with his family. On September 22, 1954, he married Mary T. (Bodner) Surgeon who survives at their home. Also surviving are his sons Ronald H. Surgeon,II of Middlefield and John A. (Lisa) Surgeon of Mantua,4 grandchildren Jonathan, Kristen, Shannon and Gabriel and 3 great-grandchildren Leighton, Emery and Carter.
No calling hours. Funeral services for Mr. Surgeon were held Monday March 2, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating.Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Final resting place will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.
