This years team was comprised of girls from Garrettsville and Mantua in grades 5th and 6th.   The most notable facet of the season is how well the girls played together as a team, unselfish, battling every minute of every game, never giving up.  They believed they could win every game and nearly did.  It was a real pleasure coaching such a fine group of young ladies, watching them grow as friends and soccer players.

We gained a reputation of being rough, even though we were a bit on the smaller side.  We knew we were in for a battle after we beat the undefeated Kent team in regular season 3-2 and just tied Southeast the week before 1-1.  On the Saturday morning of the tournament it was 40 degrees and about 20 mph wind.  The girls all showed up to play Kent beating them 1-0 and then playing Waterloo an hour and half later.  Waterloo did their best but could not stop us from scoring several goals.  On Sunday we faced Southeast… grunge match having beaten them, lost and tied in the regular season.  The tournament would settle the score.  With a couple goals early we were able to hold on to victory even though the referees seemed to swallow their whistles at the beginning of the game.  Capping off a terrific season and moving to indoor in January.

Keep an eye out for this group, they are impressive!
