I Scream, You Scream…Mantua Screams for Ice Cream

Mantua – Since Chulainn Creamery recently opened their doors in Mantua, the news of their delicious ice cream is quickly spreading around town. Recent patrons Liz and Charlie, Crestwood High School students, stopped by one afternoon for a treat to celebrate the pending end of final exams, and because, as Charlie said, “It’s hot – it’s a great day for ice cream.” And really, what day isn’t a good day for ice cream?

IMG_0587But, if you’re not sure what ice cream to try, Charlie highly recommends Cookie Dough ice cream in a waffle cone. His friend Liz suggests trying a new flavor called Eskimo Kisses, which is labeled as “cool coconut ice cream kissed with chocolate truffles and warmed by a thick blanket of fudge.” Another local favorite is Cow Tippin’, “fields of caramel-filled cows lieing in sweet vanilla ice cream near a river of caramel.” Hungry yet?

They also carry a wide range of more traditional flavors of Ashby Ice cream, as well as a limited selection of home-made flavors, which typically sell out quickly. The Creamery uses Hartzler milk in their milk shakes, and also carries rich and creamy vanilla and chocolate soft serve ice cream.

In addition to frozen desserts, the Creamery offers hot dogs, Italian sausages, made-to-order deli sandwiches, and soft drinks, giving residents a new option for a quick lunch or dinner to go with their desserts.  Local Minerva cheese and butter, Orlando bread products, Hartzler milk and butter and an assortment of jams and bakery items are also available for sale.

Whether you sit in the air-conditioned shop or venture outside to watch the traffic, and the world go by, make sure to visit Chulainn Creamery soon. You’ll be glad you did. The Creamery is located at 10517 Main Street in Mantua, next door to the Middlefield Bank. Hours of operation are 11 am to 9 pm Monday through Thursday and from 11 am-10 pm during the weekend.
