Geauga SWCD Tree and Fish Sale!

1661

Geauga County – Money doesn’t grow on trees, but trees can help you save money!  Did you know that just three well-positioned trees can save the average homeowner $100 – $250 per year in heating and cooling costs?  In addition to saving energy and money, trees improve air quality, improve property value, recharge groundwater, create habitat, and beautify our neighborhoods!  The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) provides an easy and affordable way to purchase trees this spring through their 2013 Spring Tree Sale. This year the District is offering both “Conservation Conifer Seedling Packets” and “Root Production Method” (RPM) trees and plants.  The Conservation Conifer Seedling Packets are tree seedlings in packs of 25, one tree species per pack.  White Pine, Colorado Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, and Canadian Hemlock are offered.  The RPM trees and plants are sold as singles and have large fibrous root systems that promote higher survival and rapid growth.  RPM trees come in 3-gallon containers, while the RPM plants come in 1-gallon containers.  An incredible variety of species are offered!  Whatever your needs, Geauga SWCD has the trees and plants to help meet your landscaping goals at about half the cost of your local nurseries.  Don’t miss your chance to enhance your yard and make a “green” investment.  Looking for a great gift?  Gift certificates are also available!

For more information and a complete list of trees and products, visit our website at www.geaugaswcd.com or call 440-834-1122.  Order deadline is March 25th.  The tree sale pick-up dates are Friday, April 12, from 9 am – 4 pm, and Saturday, April 13, from 9 am-12 pm at the Geauga County Fairgrounds.  All proceeds from our sales are used to support our environmental education program and you now have the convenient option to pay by credit card!

2013 Fish Sale: We are also taking orders for fingerling-size largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill/sunfish mix, minnows, white amurs, and yellow perch!  Order forms are available by visiting the district website at www.geaugaswcd.com or by calling 440-834-1122.  Order deadline is April 15th.  The Fish Sale will be held on Thursday, April 18, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on the midway of the Geauga County Fairgrounds.
