Middlefield –  Consumers can indulge in two of their favorite hobbies at the Geauga Consumer Connection show: eating and shopping. And all for FREE. This popular show, scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Middlefield Market on Nauvoo Road, features scores of Geauga County businesses sampling and selling their products and services.

DSCF4020-copyOne of more popular features of this highly-attended show is the free food samples offered by area restaurants and food stores. Consumers can graze their way through the exhibit hall as they discover Geauga businesses and speak with business owners and managers. Some of the businesses sampling food are Crossroads Country Café, Chow Down Catering, Healthy Pursuit Wellness Center, Rick’s Flavored Breads, and Rise & Dine Café.

Judy Breedlove, owner of Crossroads Country Café, prides herself on a menu of entirely homemade food that features locally grown produce. She plans to offer some of her sandwiches or wraps, and maybe some salads that use Burton-grown lettuce.

Healthy Pursuit Wellness Center owner Allan Beil will feature cereals, vitamins and minerals and some of his herbal products at his booth. He will also have a massage therapist there and visitors can enjoy a brief chair massage.

Rick Jevnikar has been baking for many years, inspired by his grandmother. He has developed a line of 30 different flavored breads. Rick will be presenting several breads, including his grandmother’s signature Potica Nut Rolls, Apple Cinnamon Bread that tastes like pie, and more. He uses all natural ingredients for his breads.

Terri Krizman and Frank Arko, owners of Rise & Dine Café have recently expanded their restaurant, which included the installation of an ice cream parlor featuring Ashby’s Ice Cream, as well as soft serve products. Terri is thinking of featuring  some ice cream, or maybe their signature gyro triangles that were a hit at the 2012 Geauga Consumer Connection.

This once-a-year event is a “can’t miss” opportunity to discover local businesses and Shop Geauga. The first 400 people attending the Geauga Consumer Connection will receive a goodie bag with special offers from exhibiting businesses. No advance registration is required.

Geauga Consumer Connection sponsors include EcoWater-ServiSoft, Kent State University Geauga, The Middlefield Banking Company, Preston Superstore, Watson’s 87 Furniture, Women’s Journal, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
