973

Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their Annual Tree and Clock Tower Lighting Ceremony on Saturday night, November 24, 2012. The lighting ceremony will begin at 6pm however if the weather permits horse and carriage rides will begin at 5 pm and run until 7pm. Besides the tree lighting, hot cocoa and cookies will be served by McDonalds, and Mrs. Claus will be at the Village Book Store reading stories to the boys and girls before and after the lighting ceremony. Debbie Darling will lead everyone in a Christmas Carol sing-a-long as we usher in the holiday season.  The children will have the opportunity to see Santa arrive on a fire truck and then be able to tell him all their holiday desires.

To coincide with the holiday season, Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce once again is promoting local shopping with their Christmas on Main program that began November 2, 2012 and will run until December 15, 2012 The shop-local promotion works like this: each shopper can pick up a card at area merchants and every time they spend $5 at participating local merchants they will receive a stamp on their card. When the card is full of stamps, they can return it to an area merchant and it will be entered in a drawing for $500 to be spent at participating Garrettsville merchants. Cards must be returned by Monday December 17th to be entered in the drawings to take place at the Chamber of Commerce December meeting. Besides the $500 shopping money, they will award a poinsettia lottery tree to the second place winner.
