Crestwood Schools Launch Student Helpline

904

Mantua – In a letter sent home to Crestwood School District students, Mary Ann Strenk, Director of Curriculum for the District, announced the launch of a program called ‘Safe School Helpline’, an anonymous tip line set up through a partnership between the School District and the Mantua Village Police Department. The system, which is available 24/7, can be accessed through a toll-free number, email, or text. Emergency information will be relayed to the appropriate parties immediately, while non-emergency information will be relayed to the appropriate officials via email by the next school day.

Strenk states, “Educating your child in a safe environment is our top priority at Crestwood Schools. Fortunately, Crestwood is very safe, and we have taken steps to assure this continues.” The helpline has been developed for students, parents and staff members to help maintain the safest and most positive school environment. The purpose of the Safe School Helpline is to promote school safety and report wrongdoings or illegal activity. Strenk continues, “Though reporting incidences should first be directed to a teacher or administrator, we understand that this sometimes causes privacy concerns. This (Helpline) is designed to assist you in reporting any wrongdoing that impacts our schools or community — anonymously.”

All inquiries will be received by Security Voice, an independent service provider, to insure that providers of tips remain anonymous. Security Voice is an independent entity which is not part of the Crestwood School District. While each report will be sent to the school, the contact information of the tip-provider will remain anonymous. Security Voice will not provide contact information to the school unless the tip-provider wishes them to do so. In order for the tip to be actionable, however, the tip must include specific facts. When the school receives your report, they may have further questions. If they do, the school will supply those questions in their response to Security Voice, who will, in turn, send them on to the tip-provider via their supplied email address.

To report an issue of concern, students or community members may use the following modes of contact:

Toll-Free Phone Number: 1-800-4-1-VOICE ext. 359

Web: www.safeschoolhelpline.com

Text: 66746, then type TIPS

Please note that prank reports will not be tolerated and may be investigated. If you have any questions about the Safe School Helpline, contact a Crestwood school principal or Mary Ann Strenk at (330) 357-8203 ext. 3122.
