Mantua – At their July meeting, the Board unanimously approved a resolution to submit a renewal of the Permanent Improvement Levy on the November 16th ballot. Treasurer Jill Rowe noted that the renewal levy could be used for items including maintenance and upkeep to District buildings, purchase of school equipment, athletic equipment, and technology. She note that the funds could not be used to pay employee salaries or benefits. She also noted that the levy has been consistently approved at five-year increments since it was originally proposed in 1987, and that renewing the levy would not increase homeowners’ property taxes. “It is essential that this levy be renewed in November to help continue to keep pace with the upkeep, repairs, and equipment replacement to operate the district,” Ms. Rowe concluded.
