Church Hosts Christmas in July Dinner

771

Covenant Bible Fellowship celebrated Christmas in July this month at their monthly Loaves and Fishes Meal.

Earlier in the year the ladies’ group from the church thought it would be cool to do a Christmas in July themed meal for their monthly free meal. The group had the Christmas tree set-up, decorated the hall in a Christmas motif, along with Christmas music and donned Santa hats and reindeer antlers while serving the public.

This month, the dinner featured Christmas dinner with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and all the trimmings. The dinner was topped off with a choice of desserts from their cake and pie selection.

When one arrives at the free meal, all they need to do is sit and relax the wonderful church staff will do the rest. They will ask your beverage choice and bring you your dinner.  When you are finished they will bring the desert tray around for one to choose a dessert.  One can linger over the meal and fellowship with others or if on a short time schedule one may choose to eat and run, which is ok too. The meal is free, and donations are accepted but are not necessary.

The church participates in the Loaves and Fishes Meal where the church offers a free meal each month to the community. There are no income restrictions, anyone can come and it is absolutely free. The Loaves and Fishes name comes from the Bible where Jesus broke the loaves and fish and served the multitudes. (Matt 14:13-21) They do this as a way of serving; they follow the motto “Because Jesus came to serve us, it is our turn to serve others.”

The church is located at 8146 High Street in Garrettsville and they serve meals on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 5:30 – 7 pm. Their next free meal will be August 21, 2012. They will have a baked potato dinner, baked potatoes with all the trimmings. Stop out and visit them, they will wait on you hand and foot so you can relax and enjoy a free meal without all the hassles of cooking or cleaning-up. Questions can be directed to 330 527- 4205.
