Audience “Mobbed” at Dance Recital

924

Garrettsville –  Last Saturday, many friends and family members of dance students spent “A Night at the Movies,” as they watched The 8th Count Dance Studio present their Fourth Annual Dance Recital at the James A. Garfield  High  School’s Iva Walker Auditorium. Each group of dancers danced to music from movies of today and yesterday in two fabulous shows. The first show was at 1:00pm and the second one was at 5:00pm. Both shows had the same line-up.

The show opened with the audience being “mobbed” by the dance studio’s flash mob team as they danced to “Can’t Stop Me Now.” The flash mob set the bar high for the show which they all achieved and some even exceeded.

The Broadway Babies group danced to “Trashin’ the Camp,” the Tiny Dancers performed to “Mr. Sandman,”  and the Tiny Tots danced to “Animal Crackers.” The little ones, as usual, stole our hearts with their cuteness as they performed.

The dancers took us to a variety of movies using songs from “Twilight”, the “Hunger Games”, Shirley Temple movies, “Mamma Mia”, “9-5”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Pocahontas”, “Footloose” and more.

The competition dance teams showed why they consistently took first place this year.

The recital showcased all the dance moves the students learned in the past nine months of classes at the studio while taking us to the movies through their song selections. They tapped, clogged, did pirouettes, leaped and did  all the other dance moves that one can imagine, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats for both shows.  They closed out the show by announcing the awards the dancers had earned during the year.

The 8th Count Dance Studio offers jazz, tap, diaper tap and tiny tap, clogging, ballet, and hip-hop. They also have cardio and zumba classes.  The summer schedule has been set and it is not too late to sign up for summer dance camps. See the web page www.the8thcount@yahoo.com or phone 330.527-0358 for more information. The studio is located in Garfield Plaza in Garrettsville, Ohio.
