A Treasure Trove of Bargains

Aurora – On April 22 through 29, an empty warehouse in Aurora will become the stage for the village’s annual spring treasure trove sale, which organizers say has raised more than $80,000 for local sports teams, clubs and more.
The event, held at 999 Chillicothe Road just south of Aurora Farms, will kick off April 22 at 10 a.m. with early bird hours until noon.

Regular hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 22 and 23. Hours on April 24 to 27 will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Come back April 27 for the first-ever Treasure Trove auction. The auction items, which may be viewed during Treasure Trove hours, will be sold anytime April 27 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The auction also will have a preview hour starting at 7 p.m.

April 28 will not be a sale day. The event will wrap up with a “brown bag” day April 29 from 10 a.m. to noon for $5.
Admission is $3 for an early bird (10 a.m. to noon) admittance April 22.  Admission is free April 24, 25, and 26. Admission to the April 27 auction, which will be 7 p.m. to midnight, is $5.

Since 2008, the annual rummage/consignment sale has raised money for various community organizations. Proceeds from the auction have benefited Greenmen Pride, Camp Sunshine, Leighton’s Robotix program, Aurora Schools Foundation and more.
Local teams and clubs also can use the treasure trove sale as a fundraiser. Organizations can donate items for consignment to the sale and receive 50 percent of the price of any sold items.

Items that can be donated include gently used clothing, books, cd’s, videos, general household, holiday, tools, bikes, small electronics, small furniture and more. Organizers request that no televisions or computers be donated.
Any leftover items will be donated to local charities April 30.

If interested, any items donated for consignment must be tagged and dropped off April 21 – the day before the sale – from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition to consignment items, volunteers also are needed to facilitate this event. Organizers say volunteers are especially needed for set-up and clean-up times April 21 and 29.
