Parings

If you are an avid reader of this column, you know that I love getting together with friends and pairing different foods and wines together. We’ve paired Halloween candy, BBQ sauces, pizzas, Girl Scout cookies and desserts. This past weekend we had a fantastic time sitting with Chef Gary from The Rolling Pig to pair wines with his gourmet dips.

After all of that sampling, I am pleased to announce our next food and wine pairing, “Sip It and Dip it” is scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd from 7:30 – 10:00pm.

We will be pairing 5 of our wines with 5 courses that are focused around a gourmet dip. Your evening will start with a large spread of dippables… freshly made cinnamon chips, French baguettes, a variety of cut-up fruit and so much more. Then, we’ll bring out the dips and wine for you and your friends to determine what pairs the best.

We’ll offer some recommendations such as when The Rolling Pig will be serve a delicious fruit salad dip we personally think it pairs best with our Riesling, however your table may disagree. Next, we will be featuring a beer cheese dip made with a beer from Youngstown brewery – Rust Belt Brewery. Surprisingly even as a beer cheese, we found quite a few wines that paired well!

Our last three pairings were a favorite in our pre-tasting party. Chef Gary has added our Chardonnay to his Spicy Crab dip, followed by a homemade salsa that Chef Gary has been known to top his tacos with. But my overall favorite will be served last – a dark chocolate dip with Syrah! (Menu subject to change without notice).

While you enjoy your pairing, acoustic guitarist and singer, Joe Fritz will be taking the stage at 7:30pm to play some fun summer-like songs and some popular songs from today. What a great date night — or– bring a group of friends to relax to some music and compare your tasting notes!

Tickets are $14.99 / person (plus tax and gratuity) and reservations are required so be sure to call the winery at 330.527.4118 to get your tickets today.
